History
Porretta Terme is a spa town whose history with the waters dates back to Roman times. It reached its peak in the late 19th century as a Liberty-style spa resort. The sulphurous and salsobromoiodic waters are today used mainly for medical and rehabilitative purposes, covered by the National Health Service.
⚠ The historic Terme Alte complex is currently undergoing a long-term restoration project (Gruppo Monti Salute Più): it is not permanently open to the public, except for exceptional openings during events. The modern spa facility remains active for treatments.
